Health News from Bernie

As most of you know, on Monday, June 3rd I had open heart surgery. It was quite a week June 3rd until June 9th being in the Hospital. It was a interesting experience to say the least, being dependent on God, the doctors, and the awesome nurses. While also being supported by my wife and immediate family, my church Family and friends.

I’m happy to report that at this point all seems to have gone well, and I’m back on the road to recovery. A few draw backs are: (1) I can’t drive and I must be driven around by my wife for six weeks and I must sit in the backseat (2), No lifting or pulling anything over 5-10 pounds (3), No using my elbows (try getting up without your arms) (4), Can’t wash my hair as I must keep my arms below my shoulders (5), Need to be careful not to fall or cut myself as I will be on blood thinners for a while and (6) Avoid Stress.

Bottom line is I need to slow down for a while. I’ve been told it can be a full year before getting back to normal, but by three months, things should be pretty good again, just need to gradually build up my strength.

So yes, I’ve been blessed. Please keep me and my family in your prayers, but so far nothing but good news.
